Antonio Daniels
       While Antonio played basketball at St. Francis Desales High School at the same time his brother Chris was killed because of a heart attack. He played the Center position for the Dayton Flyers. His number was 33 which now is proudly wore by his brother Antonio. Antonio Daniels went to college at Bowling Green and played for the falcons. He was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in the 1996-97 season. He was also a John Wooden All-American Team Finialist. He was ranked second just behind former falcon Howard Komives scoring an outstanding total of 1,789 points while at Bowling Green. Another All-Time list of the Bowling Green Falcons that Antonio managed to get on with at Bowling Green was the assists list. Ranking second again this time behind former Falcon David Greer with 573 assists. While making it on the All-Time lists he was leading the Falcons to a 22-10 record allowing them a spot in the 1997 National Invitational Tournament. Antonio with his poise and style made is way onto the All- Mac Selection averaging a smooth 24 points a game (fifth in the nation)and 6.8 assists (10th in the nation) in a team high 36.2 minutes a game while playing the point guard position. Antonio Daniels started his NBA
career after the 1997 NBA Draft. Antonio was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies, first round, 4th overall pick. The Memphis Grizzly played his rookie year averaging 4.5 assists a game. Antonio led the Grizzlies in assists and was ranked third among the NBA in assists. Durning his rookie season while playing the Phoenix Suns he scored a season high of 23 points and had 5 assists to his record. After his rookie season with the Grizzlies he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs on June 25, 1998 for Carl Herrera and the draft rights to Felipe Lopez. His first year turned out to be one of the best NBA years of his whole career, backing up San Antonio point guard Avery Johnson, who helped the Spurs win the 1999 NBA Championship against the New York Knicks. The 1999 Championship would be the Spurs first NBA Title. Just this last year Antonio, in a five player trade was traded to the Portland Trailblazers. Antonio Daniels, Center Amal McCaskill and guard Charles Smith were traded to Portland inexchange for guards Steve Kerr and Erick Barkley. The Blazers will also send back the second round pick in the 2003 draft previously acquired in last summer’s trade, when the Blazers acquired guard Derek Anderson and Kerr for guard Steve Smith. After just one year with the Portland Trailblazers free agent Antonio Daniels signed on July 19, 2003 with the Seattle SuperSonics. Antonio will now play on long side the amazing shooting guard Ray Allen.
