Gary Payton, nicknamed the glove, grew up in on of those bad neighborhoods where everyone
turns into a drug addicted but nor his dad wanted Gary to have that life. So instead of going
to Fremont High School where he lived he went to Skyline. He had no problem making the basketball
team. At first he didn't feel good about going there because
of all the trash talking but eventually got over it. As a sophomore he was locked
out from playing basketball because he failed many of his classes. His dad made him concentrate
on his school meanwhile NCAA standards for scholarships were rising. He started working harder
to meet college standards. His team wasn't doing well but as soon as Gary joined things turned around.
He beat Fremont by a last second jumper. After that there was just fighting. Both
school's players were suspended. He played for the Seattle Sonics for 12 and half
years before being traded to the Miluakee Bucks for
Ray Allen on March 5, 2003.
